Notes:

  • Years exp: 4years minimum in high level Product owner Product management space
  • Product Owner that reports to Product Manager (non procurement)
  • Utility exp (Huge_= regulator exp) Financial (combo of these three highly desired)
  • Manager is not looking for “Tech, OR SCRUM ONLY” type backgrounds
  • This is role that requires effective communicators who can present to Client upper management.
  • Location: can be local to Philadelphia (MOB), PA, or Chicago (Client), but 1310 Point Street, Baltimore preferred.
  • Ft – 40 HOURS A WEEK (HYBRID, T, W, TH ONSITE)
  • Presenting / confidence - Explain info and presentations to leadership
  • Education: concentration in Business, Science (STEM) or Product Management desired
  • Must be adaptable, tactical and high level communicator
  • Advanced Excel and advanced Powerpoint, presentation of data findings exp desired
  • Candidate MUST HAVE STRONG VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS: BE able to Explain info and presentations to Client leadership

 Primary Purpose

  • The Product Owner (PO) is a key member of the Agile Delivery Team (ADT) and is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the product roadmap and prioritization of backlog items to achieve strategic goals and outcomes.
  • The PO serves as the principal liaison between the business and technology groups to ensure the product aligns with the organizational goals.
  • At an organizational level, the PO has a deep understanding of the business need and priorities, including activities that extend beyond the direct scope of the ADT.
  • At a strategic level, the PO uses experience and judgement skills to prioritize and design an approach which is suitable for achieving business goals and eliminating constraints.
  • At a team level, the PO effectively communicates the product roadmap and backlog priority and provides feedback to optimize team dynamics and performance.
  • The role involves introducing capabilities that span multiple business and technology teams, as well as various operating companies, to ensure that the solutions developed support the long-term vision of the customer journey and product roadmaps.
  • The role requires cross functional collaboration and understanding of both technical and business needs, including people and process, to support the implementation of key features.
  • The PO is a critical contributor to the success of the product, and their expertise and skills are essential to the achievement of the organization’s goals.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

  1. Contribute to the development of the product roadmap and evolving product vision in collaboration with business sponsors, leaders, and other stakeholders. Provide context to the Agile Delivery Team to help build solutions that meet current and future customer and business needs. Prioritize backlog according to business strategy, business impact and concrete results. Regularly review and report out on progress relative to business plans and business value in the context of the broader vision. 
  2. Review, approve and provide feedback on Agile Delivery Teamwork progress, stories, sprint planning and product deliverable(s). Manage stakeholders and communicate across multiple business units and operating companies.
  3. Help remove impediments for the Agile Delivery Team by supporting information gathering from relevant business stakeholders and bring issues that disrupt the team to the Scrum Master.
  4. Supports product budget, coordination of resources, and assists with identification of risks and issues. 

Job Scope

  • Create, own, vet, maintain, and socialize product roadmaps and features based on data-driven trends and competitive/industry insights to meet business goals and provide a world-class customer experience; prioritize features based on customer value proposition.
  • Lead the definition of product requirements and minimum viable product using input from various sources including external sources such as digital trends, technology innovations, and customer research, as well as internal sources such as analytics and customer feedback.
  • Be a customer experience visionary, thoroughly understand and anticipate customer and business needs to develop engaging customer experiences.
  • Collaborates with technology teams to refine features. Collaborate with Product Manager and other sponsors/stakeholders to maintain alignment with strategic goals and vision.
  • Create and present executive product updates, including performance metrics and delivery status.
  • Support project management processes such as risk and issue management.

  • Strong written / verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to speak to, and influence peers, partners, and executive leadership.
  • Experience working in an agile environment; hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Working knowledge and application of Agile practices and principles, principally Scrum, and experience advocating these practices and principles across cross-functional organizations.
