Summary

  • They use 2D or 3D animation techniques to bring characters and scenes to life, creating a series of images or frames that are displayed in rapid succession to create the perception of motion.
  • Animators collaborate with a team of artists, designers, voice actors, and sound designers to develop the story, characters, and backgrounds of the animated project.

Job duties of an animator may include:

  • Developing storyboards and character designs Creating rough sketches and drawings Using animation software such as Adobe Animate, Blender, Maya, or other similar tools to create digital models and scenes Animating characters and objects Adding textures, materials, and lighting to scenes Collaborating with team members to integrate animation into the final product Skills and qualifications required for an animator position may include:
  • Proficiency in animation software such as Adobe Animate, Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, or similar tools Strong understanding of animation principles and techniques, including timing, squash and stretch, anticipation, and more Creativity and storytelling abilities to bring characters and scenes to life Attention to detail and precision in animation to ensure high-quality output Collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with directors and other animators Problem-solving skills for technical challenges that may arise during the animation process
