Description

Rangam is seeking candidates for a Contract role as a Senior Associate Scientist  with our client Pfizer, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. Seeking candidates in Bothell, WA or willing to relocate.



Position summary:

  • We are seeking a senior associate scientist to help manage our internal protein inventory and assist with routine antibody purifications. Y
  • our primary activities will be to fulfill inventory requests, perform FPLC-based antibody purifications, and analyze purified material to confirm quality.
  • Your work will support the core protein production group within the Research department and will play a critical role in driving preclinical efforts to develop novel antibody-based therapeutics.

 

Position responsibilities:

  • Regularly monitor, self-assign, and update inventory requests
  • Use LIMS interface and Excel workbooks to fulfill and document assigned requests
  • Manipulate protein samples under sterile conditions inside a biosafety cabinet
  • Purify antibodies with AKTA Avant equipment
  • Characterize purified proteins by UPLC, UV-vis, and Mass Spectrometry methods
  • Maintain detailed records of purification experiments in an ELN
  • Complete general lab upkeep including buffer preparation and basic FPLC/column maintenance
  • Communicate activities to the team and troubleshoot any issues, elevating problems to management as needed

 

Organizational relationships:

  • Regularly interact with members of Protein Solutions Group, particularly the Purification sub-team
  • Regularly interact with inventory requestors, particularly members of the Conjugation and In Vivo groups

 

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry) with 2+ years post-degree lab experience

 

Technical skills requirements:

  • Wet lab experience using pipettes and maintaining sample sterility using biological safety cabinets
  • Hands-on experience with FPLC protein purification
  • High attention to detail and successfully accomplishes meticulous work
  • Demonstrated ability to handle simultaneous responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities
  • Able to identify concerns, investigate solutions and escalate to management
  • Work in a team-based environment employing a solution-based approach
  • (Preferred) experience with protein analytical methods (e.g., analytical SEC, HIC, mass spectrometry)
  • (Preferred) experience keeping records in ELN systems
  • (Preferred) writes or understands advanced Excel formulas and VBA or other coding languages

 

Physical position requirements:

  • Able to lift and move 25 lbs

  

Hard Skills:
