Description

Title: Laboratory Associate

Location: Santa Monica, CA 90404, USA, 100% onsite

Duration: 12 months, extension and/or conversion possible based on business needs and performance.

Position Summary:

  • Reporting to a Sr. Scientist. Supporting execution of process development activities including, run execution, media preparation, reagent monitoring, equipment monitoring/cleaning/calibration, serving as a floating support between SMEs during high volume activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist process development study leads in the set up and execution of process runs
  • Formulate media for use in process runs
  • Formulate ribonucleic protein complexes
  • Perform cell counts using NC-200 Nucleocounter
  • Assist in the set up and run execution of equipment e.g. Prodigy, LOVO, Xenon Electroporator
  • Assist with the input of data into electronic laboratory notebook
  • Maintain accurate records of data, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary
  • Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project
  • Monitor the project reagents and materials
  • Manage and respond to project related emails

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in the biological sciences (or experience in biology research)
  • Ability to work as part of a team and complete experiments, analyze data and provide results to end-users in a timely fashion is required
  • 1-2 years of sterile tissue culture experience required. No less than 1 year and no more than 2 years preferred.
  • Cell culture and molecular biology skills are required
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in the biological sciences (or experience in biology research)

3 most preferred skills/experiences on resume:

  • Experience in a professional environment post degree, preferably in positions longer than 6 months.
  • Industry experience
  • A self-starter who is organized with attention to details and who is looking to grow,
  • Candidates with post-degree experience within academia will be considered, but industry experience of some sort is preferred.
  • Relative internships that are not shorter than 6 months , and post-degree, can be counted towards the 1-2 years of experience required.
  • Candidates must be ok with working for other scientists, assisting them with the research.
