Job Description (Required):

We are seeking a Lab Scientist for a state of Connecticut regulated (CLIA) clinical laboratory.

  • The position is to support nucleic acid extraction and analysis from clinical and research samples.
  • Responsibilities will include biofluid and tissue sample management, sample extraction on both manual and robotic systems, sample tracking, quality control, quantification and analysis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the isolation, quantification and analysis of nucleic acids from human biospecimen samples.
  • Manage biofluid and tissue biospecimen registration, Inventory, and destruction.
  • Demonstrate good documentation practices and attention to detail related to the above
  • Demonstrate good oral and interpersonal communication with cross-functional partners and laboratory colleagues.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures
  • Work independently and in a team environment in multiple settings including office and open space. 
  • B.S. with 5 year’s experience or M.S. preferred with 3 year’s experience in human genetics, genomics, or molecular biology.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the latest technologies pertaining to human genomic research in industry including genotyping, RNA expression technologies (NGS), somatic alteration analysis, bioinformatics, and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience handling human biofluids and tissues
  • Superior scientific and technical skills in the genomic sciences
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational abilities; ability to successfully work and get things done in teams
  • Ability to engage, communicate and facilitate communication across groups
  • Ability to identify and implement new technologies
  • Experience with utilizing a laboratory information management system (LIMS).
