Job Title: Part-Time SQL DBA/Developer
Location: Remote (EST)
Schedule: Approx. 3–5 hours/week (10-15 hours/month)
Duration: 12-24 Months
About the Role
- We are seeking a seasoned and dependable SQL DBA/Developer to support our U.S.-based implementation team on a part-time basis. This role requires close collaboration with our offshore product team in India and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical production releases and database management tasks with a high degree of autonomy.
- The ideal candidate brings a strong background in database development and administration, particularly in SQL Server environments hosted on AWS. This position is well-suited for experienced professionals seeking a flexible secondary engagement while still working on impactful technical deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute database scripts and technical instructions received from the offshore product team
- Perform database administration tasks including maintenance, backup/restore, and user access management
- Drive performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing efforts
- Ensure system stability, data integrity, and security across U.S.-based environments
- Provide support during early-morning release windows on Fridays and Mondays (aligned with UK shifts)
- Commit to staying available until releases are successfully completed and verified
- Occasionally coordinate with U.S.-based implementation and development staff
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of proven experience as a SQL Server DBA/Developer
- Strong hands-on expertise in AWS-hosted database environments
- Solid command of performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization
- Ability to work independently and follow structured release processes with precision
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in distributed team settings
- Willingness to support early U.S. morning hours on designated release days (1–2 per month)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting monthly or bi-weekly production releases
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) for troubleshooting or documentation
- Experience working with cross-functional, offshore teams
