Description

Summary:

  • Prepare detailed working diagrams of Bus HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) mechanical systems and components , including assemblies, dimensions, tolerancing, fastening methods, and other engineering information.

 Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 year drafting and design degree required.
  • 5-7 years experience required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
  • Team player and detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical models and drawings.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Experienced using CAD and PLM systems required (CREO and Windchill preferred).
  • Experience designing sheet metal components preferred.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical HVAC assemblies and components, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
  • Coordinate with and consult with engineers and other designers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems.
  • Identify solutions to resolve design or other problems.
  • Position instructions and comments onto drawings.
  • Check dimensions and tolerancing of components to be used and assign part numbers and structure bill of material (BOM).
  • Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, and systems.
