6 Months Vacancy

The post holder will be expected to work a flexible shift pattern between 07:00 and 21:00, according to business needs.

This is an exciting time for Facilities Management at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets as we prepare to move into the New Town Hall. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of new procedures and policies and to be part of a high-performing Facilities Management team.


Role Purpose

The Facilities Assistant will be responsible for managing workspaces and buildings across the Council’s corporate property portfolio, including:

  • Libraries

  • Idea Stores

  • Administration Buildings

  • Youth Centres

  • Community Buildings

  • Children’s Centres

  • Adults Centres

  • Parks Buildings

The post holder may work in a busy reception area with various service providers and will assist in the planning and delivery of FM services for the New Town Hall.

They will ensure that buildings are:

  • Safe

  • Clean

  • Health & safety compliant

  • Fit for purpose

Delivering value for money and excellent customer service will be at the heart of all activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality FM (Facilities Management) services

  • Ensure value for money in service delivery

  • Produce basic operational reports

  • Identify and report building issues and suggest improvements

  • Ensure compliance, security, and functionality of buildings

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with building users

  • Resolve customer issues efficiently and provide timely updates

  • Respond promptly to requests via the FM Helpdesk

  • Maintain statutory compliance and accurate records

  • Keep the Council’s Asset Management system up to date


Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Solid experience in Facilities Management and/or Customer Service

  • A proven track record of contributing to excellent service delivery

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • The ability to work collaboratively with various teams and services

  • Good IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office

  • A Health and Safety qualification (desirable but not essential)
