Description

Job Title: Assistant Scientist Product Development,

Location: AOC - onsite everyday - M-F normal business hours

  • As an Assistant Product Developer Contract Worker, you will be supporting ingredient beverage application efforts in the bench, and managing the product and packaging shelf-life testing program as needed.
  • You will support Product Development personnel on projects across various initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bench work on beverage product development to test different ingredient application efforts.
  • Conduct shelf-life testing on new ingredient/product applications and product/packaging interactions. Identify opportunities to accelerate shelf-life testing if possible.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team (Scientific & Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Technical Consumer Research, Marketing) to deliver project objectives.
  • Laboratory Practices & Equipment Maintenance: Knowledge and application of Good Laboratory Practices including laboratory organization & maintenance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Including the ability to conduct troubleshooting, conduct preventative maintenance, calibration, and repairs.
  • Project Execution: Support the execution of new recipe development
  • Assisting senior product development scientist / manager, ensuring projects meet quality, timing, and budget targets.
  • Innovation and Prototyping: Coordinate lab-scale prototypes applying GMPs in place, conduct analytical / sensory tests, and facilitate/lead and follow up pilot-scale productions. Apply statistical methods and design of experiments to enhance product development efficiency and learning. Leverage digital tools to document formulas and mixing instructions.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Share learnings, participate in cross-functional teams, and provide insights and data to guide decisions and innovations.
  • Technology: Integrate digital tools (e.g., AI, digital prototyping) early in the development process to map impacts and accelerate innovation. Your digital acumen will enable you to leverage data and technology in product development and risk management as well as contribute to unlocking future opportunities.

 

Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, or related field.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% annually.

 

Desired Skills and Competencies: 

  • Foundational knowledge in bench top beverage development, ingredient, and industry standards.
  • Digital literacy: Advanced digital skills to employ data analytics, AI, and digital prototyping in innovation. Data integrity and cybersecurity awareness. Well-versed with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Forms, and SharePoint. Advanced Microsoft Excel skill is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
  • Agility, resilience, multi-tasking, and creativity to navigate multiple projects.
  • Flexibility to work independently and with team.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and experimental design is a plus.
