Onsite schedule: Monday - Friday / 8-4 or 9-5
What is the minimum education experience required?:
- B.S. (>4 years), M.S. (>1 years) or Ph.D. in relevant scientific field with a focus on documented experience in performing cell-based assays Educational background in life sciences [cell biology, bioengineering, immunology, or similar]
What will the resource be working with, or, have exposure to:
- Any Non human Primate work (live or cell lines)
- Biohazardous Agent work (such as menigiditis, staph aureus, Lenti Virus, streph pneumoniae)
- NHP cells or tissues
- Unscreened blood, human tissue or human cell lines
POSITION SUMMARY
- Key duties include performing cellular bioanalytical assays in strong adherence with existing protocols and participating in assay optimization efforts; collaborative work with colleagues; accurate documenting all activities in the electronic lab notebook (ELN).
- This role requires expertise in conducting assays with cells and samples from various tissue origins and experience with ligand binding assays.
- Knowledge of flow-cytometry is a plus.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cultivation and manipulation of various adherent and non-adherent cell types
- Performing ligand binding assays, such as ELISA
- Operation of flow-cytometers and plate-readers
- Handling tissue samples from rodents, non-human primates and humans
- Consistent record keeping using an electronic lab notebook (ELN)
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- This hire will interact daily with the managers and 3-4 colleagues in the immediate team for laboratory work prioritization, experiment planning and exection.
- The hire might also work on common assignments with colleagues in a larger bioanalytical group at the same location, as needed.
- The hire will participate in bi-weekly group meetings and other team meetings and discussions, as relevant to their work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- B.S. (>4 years), M.S. (>1 years) or Ph.D. in relevant scientific field with a focus on documented experience in performing cell-based assays Educational background in life sciences [cell biology, bioengineering, immunology, or similar]
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Required critical skills:
- Ability to perform cell-based assay by following established protocols and with consistency
- Expertise in working with various cell lines and primary cells, especially PBMCs and endothelial cells; sub-culturing and preparation of frozen stocks
- Experience with ELISA and/or other ligand binding assays (e.g., MSD)
- Being comfortable with task changes and multi-tasking
Preferred:
- Good working knowledge of cell analysis by flow-cytometry
- Primary cell isolation from tissues
- Ability for independent data analysis and interpretation
