Description

Client has a vacancy for a z/OS Systems Programmer whose primary responsibility will include:

  • Ongoing maintenance (install, patching, upgrades, administration, etc.,) of the mainframe z/OS operating system, accompanying storage systems and systems software products (e.g.,database, transaction server, security management, scheduling, report distribution, etc.), and UNIX Systems Services. 
  • Upgrades of mainframe and related storage.
  • The candidate will be required to provide production off hour coverage (if necessary) and support periodic weekend implementations. 

 

Experience / Preferred Qualifications:

  • The candidate must have experience with VTAM and TCP/IP.
  • 10+ years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD. Basic IBM utilities
  • (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.) program product installations, working knowledge or the IBM virtual tape system and Unix System Services. 
  • Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, DB2 and AFP printing is a plus.
  • Experience in using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON.
  • Working with an enterprise wide, large scale implementation.
  • Excellent communications skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required.
  • The candidate must have experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer consultant.

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, OR 15 years of experience working in the mainframe system programmer field.Mainframe System Programmer
