Role Title: Scientist, Microbiology


Onsite role ( 5 days a week) Working hours 35 to 40 hours per week

Bring your own PC

Working schedule: Start time from 7:00-9:00. Finish time: 3:00 to 6:00PM

Bi-weekly report of deliverables. 

 

This role is well-suited for a recent graduate or a current college student. If the selected candidate is a graduate student, the assignment duration can be extended beyond the initial timeline, if needed.

  

 

Key Working Parameters

Scope, & Impact:

  • This role belongs to the Corporate QSE team and gives support to E2E Microbiology
  • Routine microbiology clearance of finished beverages, laboratory and pilot plant water and environmental samples.
  • Designs and executes microbiology research experiments using traditional and molecular microbiology

 

Focus Areas:

  • The microbiology scientist will execute laboratory activities in the Corporate QSE microbiology lab at the Atlanta Office Campus (AOC).

 

The following areas define the key focus of the role:

  • Microbiology testing: Clearance of finished beverages, laboratory and pilot plant water and environmental samples. (20%)

 

Microbiology experimentation:

  • Applied research projects: Project will include literature research, design and execution of experiments, analyses of data, reporting of results and presenting to microbiology leaders at TCCC.

 

Project 1:

  • Development, detection and characterization of biofilms
  • Assess effectiveness of different chemicals and biocides to biofilm removal

 

Project 2:

  • Validation of online microbiology methods
  • Validation of molecular biology assays (real time PCR) for testing of high acid beverages

 

Operational support for microbiology Lab: Support laboratory activities like media preparation, waste disposal. Keep laboratory SOPs up to date.

 

Key Success Parameters

 

Experience

  • Last year Undergraduate student, Graduate student or B.Sc. in Microbiology
  • Experience in microbiology testing and microbiology research
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques (for the project in validation of molecular assays).
  • Strong scientific knowledge in microbiology and design of experiments.
  • Preferred to have experience in setting applied research experiments.
  • Team player, collaborative and entrepreneur mindset are key skills to work within the microbiology team.
  • This role gives the opportunity to a junior microbiologist of learning and working with a team of senior and experienced food microbiologist.
