Description

Job involves working in warehouse and biohazardous labs, therefore candidates must be willing and able to receive and follow lab safety, universal precautions, and bloodborne pathogen safety training.

Requires local travel between Santa Clara and Sunnyvale sites (4.5 miles)

As a Laboratory Operations Technician I, you will be a vital part of our laboratory team, ensuring smooth operations and efficient processes. Your responsibilities will encompass both inventory management and direct support for laboratory activities. This role requires keen attention to detail, physical stamina, and effective communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will perform the following tasks:

Laboratory Glassware:
  • Ensure proper labeling and handling of the collected glassware.
  • Gathering laboratory glassware from various work areas.
  • Use industrial dishwashers to thoroughly clean and sanitize the laboratory glassware.
  • Return the cleaned glassware to their respective laboratory areas promptly.
Sample Management and Collaboration:
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Pull daily samples for testing by the laboratories.
  • Receive samples into the Research and Development (R&D) sample inventory.
  • Properly dispose of bulk samples according to guidelines at the end of testing protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of sample disposal activities.
  • Communicate effectively with the Laboratory Operations staff to ensure seamless daily operations.
Qualifications
  • Physical Strength: Some tasks may involve lifting or moving heavy glassware or sample trays.
  • To excel in this position, you should possess:
  • Attention to Detail: Accurate record keeping and handling of samples, glassware, and equipment is crucial.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Clear communication with colleagues and inventory staff is essential.
Education and Experience
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Additional specialized training or certification may be beneficial.

Job description:

  • Support relocation of labs and offices from one facility to another facility.
  • Unpack and reinstall equipment at new site.
  • Learn and execute moderately complex instrument operations including shut-down procedures, installation procedures, qualification testing, integration testing.
  • Handle biohazardous liquid quality control material, blood specimen tubes.
  • Pack and unpack lab supplies and materials, in lab, warehouse, and office locations.
  • Must follow and maintain compliance to Client and regulatory standards, on-the-job, and safety training.
  • Quality documentation – complete service tickets and reports

Required Skills / Expertise

  • Job requires physical ability to move equipment, machinery, pack and unpack crates and boxes.
  • Familiar with engineering/scientific lab environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to function with minimal supervisory oversight.
  • Good communication skills.

Experience

  • Entry level
  • 2 year college in engineering or sciences field, preferred
