Description
Position summary:
- We are seeking a senior associate scientist to help manage our internal protein inventory and assist with routine antibody purifications. Y
- our primary activities will be to fulfill inventory requests, perform FPLC-based antibody purifications, and analyze purified material to confirm quality.
- Your work will support the core protein production group within the Research department and will play a critical role in driving preclinical efforts to develop novel antibody-based therapeutics.
Position responsibilities:
- Regularly monitor, self-assign, and update inventory requests
- Use LIMS interface and Excel workbooks to fulfill and document assigned requests
- Manipulate protein samples under sterile conditions inside a biosafety cabinet
- Purify antibodies with AKTA Avant equipment
- Characterize purified proteins by UPLC, UV-vis, and Mass Spectrometry methods
- Maintain detailed records of purification experiments in an ELN
- Complete general lab upkeep including buffer preparation and basic FPLC/column maintenance
- Communicate activities to the team and troubleshoot any issues, elevating problems to management as needed
Organizational relationships:
- Regularly interact with members of Protein Solutions Group, particularly the Purification sub-team
- Regularly interact with inventory requestors, particularly members of the Conjugation and In Vivo groups
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry) with 2+ years post-degree lab experience
Technical skills requirements:
- Wet lab experience using pipettes and maintaining sample sterility using biological safety cabinets
- Hands-on experience with FPLC protein purification
- High attention to detail and successfully accomplishes meticulous work
- Demonstrated ability to handle simultaneous responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities
- Able to identify concerns, investigate solutions and escalate to management
- Work in a team-based environment employing a solution-based approach
- (Preferred) experience with protein analytical methods (e.g., analytical SEC, HIC, mass spectrometry)
- (Preferred) experience keeping records in ELN systems
- (Preferred) writes or understands advanced Excel formulas and VBA or other coding languages
Physical position requirements:
- Able to lift and move 25 lbs
Hard Skills:
