Description
R&D Technician II
Onsite position
- Perform tests on medical devices (heart catheters) (mechanical, electrical, conditioning, length, OD, visual)
- Everything from simple to complex testing
- Able to follow written and verbal instruction
- 85/15 lab time/desk time
- All work time is on-site
Experience Required:
- Someone familiar with working in a med device setting, preferably testing, but product building could also be an option.
- BS in another discipline if the candidate likes to work with their hands and can stay focused on testing.
- If there were some candidates with assembly experience that also that had some college, like an AA degree, tech school in electronics, AA in engineering, or some certification classes that would help.
- BS in Engineering is OVERQUALIFIED the job is to primarily test medical devices not to design them.
Experience/Skills:
- Medical device testing experience
- R&D experience
- Working with test methods
- Able to follow verbal/written instructions
- Able to manage their time
- Able to prioritize
- Some document drafting exp. a plus
- Detail oriented - data sheets - utilizing good documentation practices
- Be able to clearly communicate ideas, problems and solutions to engineers.
- Works well with a team
- Follow safety guidelines and utilize appropriate safety devices when performing all tasks that require such precautions.
- Equipment/tools: Caliper, MTS, multimeters, digital thermometers, Force Gage, Cognex, LabView, hand tools
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office

- Someone with an AA in engineering studies that was working as a mechanic, solid work history, no R&D or med device experience. Interviewed very well.
- R&D engineering tech with 6 years at Medtronic. Also interviewed very well.
