Work Location: Hybrid – On-Site Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday | Work from Home Monday & Friday

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Utility Estimator with a strong background in electrical utility projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in estimating costs for high voltage electrical construction and/or civil construction work and will be adept at reading and interpreting project diagrams and construction drawings. This role requires the ability to collaborate closely with Project Teams and Leadership, presenting accurate cost estimates that support effective decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for Overhead & Underground Transmission, Substation Construction, and Overhead & Underground Distribution projects.

  • Review and interpret project diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings to determine scope and materials required.

  • Utilize estimating software (e.g., InEight, WinEst, Accubid, Sage, Timberline or similar) to compile detailed project cost breakdowns.

  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to validate cost estimates and project feasibility.

  • Present cost estimates to Project Teams and Leadership in a clear and concise manner.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, materials pricing, and industry best practices for high voltage utility construction.


Required Qualifications

Must-Have Skills:

  • Proven experience estimating high voltage electrical construction and/or civil work construction.

  • Ability to read and interpret project diagrams and construction drawings.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills for delivering cost estimates to leadership.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., InEight, WinEst, Accubid, Sage, Timberline).

Experience:

  • 5–10 years of relevant estimating experience in utility construction.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field OR High School Diploma with 6–10 years of relevant estimating experience.


Additional Requirements

  • Must work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – no exceptions.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.


Preferred Background

  • Prior experience working at an Electric Utility in the capacity of an Estimator, Engineer, or Project Manager.

  • Experience in both electrical and civil construction estimating.
