What skills are needed to be successful in this role?

  • Strong project management skills to be able to oversee multiple projects at the same time
  • Technical understanding of key concepts in transportation electrification and mobility
  • Ability to work independently and with a variety of team members and contractors
  • Strong writing skills to craft solicitations, contracts, and memos
  • Ability to competently and confidently interact with outside stakeholders, especially industry participants
  • Strong IT system fluency or ability to learn systems quickly

Are there any specialized skills that must be present for the position to be successful?

  • Experience with clean transportation and electric vehicles is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of the product commercialization process is preferred but not essential
  • Training or experience in transportation and/or civil/mechanical/electrical engineering strongly preferred
  • Experience with writing solicitations/RFPs, contract statements of work, or other similar activities is preferred

Certifications and qualifications, including education/degree

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Background, including formal training, in transportation, energy, civil/mechanical/electrical engineering, or similar field strongly preferred

IT systems that will be used

  • Salesforce, NEIS, Microsoft Office

Tasks

  • Initiate, track, and manage transportation R&D contracts throughout the project lifecycle related to the development and/or demonstration of new or emerging clean transportation products and services      
  • Research and draft solicitations that target specific technologies and/or business models for further research and participate in the project selection process
  • Engage with industry participants to understand their technology needs and challenges to inform future solicitation development
  • Track, document, and report on projects as needed, including progress of solicitations and projects
  • Develop materials such as slide decks, written status reports, internal forms, and other documents to communicate the ongoing status of client programs
