Description

Electrical Engineer IV

Location: Onsite – Redmond, WA

Duration: 12 months (possible extension)
Start: ASAP

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support research and prototyping work for next-generation AR/VR hardware. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a broad set of experiences, including embedded design, analog/mixed signal design, and camera experience. The systems we work with could have ASICs, microcontrollers, microprocessors, FPGAs from simple to large, displays, audio, inertial sensors, haptic interfaces, image sensors, and high-speed I/O. The ideal candidate would be comfortable designing mixed high-speed digital circuit boards, be experienced with troubleshooting at the board and system level, and have experience with display driver ICs.  This role focuses on designing, building, and debugging complex electrical systems used in small form-factor, wearable devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design schematics and guide PCB layout for mixed-signal, high-speed electronic systems

  • Assemble, test, debug, and bring up electrical and opto-electrical systems

  • Work with components such as image sensors, display driver ICs, depth sensors, power supplies, and high-speed interfaces

  • Troubleshoot issues at the board and system level

  • Collaborate closely with research scientists, firmware, and software engineers

  • Adapt quickly in a fast-changing, research-focused environment

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of industry experience in hardware or electrical engineering

  • Strong hands-on experience with:

    • Schematic design and PCB layout tools

    • Bench equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators)

    • Board bring-up and system-level debugging

  • Experience with opto-electrical systems and interfaces such as:

    • I2C, SPI, UART, MIPI, USB

Nice to Have

  • Analog circuit design experience

  • Camera or image sensor system design

  • Flex or rigid-flex PCB design experience

Ideal Background

  • Consumer electronics, wearables, or similar product-focused hardware

  • Comfortable working in small, self-directed engineering teams

Not a Fit If

  • Background is heavily focused on wireless-only, aerospace, automotive, or industrial power systems
