Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Tax (Tax Collector) – Ventura County (Contract Position)

Contract Opportunity: Supporting Tax Operations

Position Overview:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Tax for a contract position based in Ventura County - Ventura.

  • This role is ideal for professionals who possess a deep understanding of taxation terminology, practices, and regulations, and who can effectively address concerns related to high volumes of work and complex business requirements.
  • The SME will play a critical role in supporting our ongoing tax operations and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Taxation Expertise: Utilize advanced knowledge of tax concepts and terminology to guide the team and resolve complex tax-related issues.
  • Business Requirements Analysis: Work closely with stakeholders to understand and document business requirements, including specialized needs such as those from Ventura County, Orange County or similar jurisdictions.
  • Workload Management: Address and manage concerns regarding the quantity of work in the queue, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams to provide tax insights and solutions, supporting both onsite and remote operations.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience in tax operations and compliance.
  • Strong familiarity with tax terminology and practices, particularly as they relate to California.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills to interpret and implement business requirements.
  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment, balancing onsite collaboration and remote productivity.
