Description

Onsite - Sunnyvale Location, 5 days a week

Must-Have Skills

  • Proficiency with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, electronic loads, etc.).
  • Demonstrated strength in system-level electrical analysis and troubleshooting (power integrity, transient response, noise, efficiency, stability).
  • Experience in consumer electronics, wearables, or similar industries (highly integrated systems, tight power/thermal constraints).

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience developing or maintaining power validation methodologies for battery-powered wearable systems.
  • Experience creating automated power characterization (power profiling, regression tests, long-run stability testing).
  • Experience supporting NPI/manufacturing validation and bridging lab validation to production test strategies.

Description:

The primary function of this role is to lead hands-on power analysis and validation for smart glasses cases, ensuring system power behavior meets performance, reliability, and safety expectations.

  • This experienced Electrical Engineer will be responsible for executing detailed electrical measurements, troubleshooting, and system-level analysis with a strong emphasis on direct testing and validation work.
  • Key focus areas include battery and charging system measurements, power rail analysis, and comprehensive electrical characterization.
  • The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in power validation, electrical testing methodologies, failure analysis and hands-on measurement techniques in consumer electronics or wearables.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own power validation efforts for smart glasses case systems and subsystems, including defining validation plans, test coverage, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Perform system-level electrical analysis of power rails, regulators, batteries/charging paths, and load behavior to identify inefficiencies, instability, and failure modes.
  • Execute lab debugging and troubleshooting using industry-standard instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power meters, DMMs, logic analyzers, etc.) to root cause issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive failure analysis of power-related issues, including electrical component failures, battery degradation, charging anomalies, and system-level power failures using advanced diagnostic techniques.
  • Partner cross-functionally to translate observed power validation findings into actionable engineering improvements (design, firmware, test methodology, or process changes).
  • Supervise/guide simulation and validation activities where applicable, including correlation between lab results and expected performance.
  • Support manufacturing and sustaining efforts by investigating power-related yield issues, field returns, and production test gaps; drive fixes and preventative actions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant operational, safety, and regulatory standards (e.g., EMC, safety), and support documentation needed for certification activities.
  • Estimate scope, timeline, and resource needs for power validation workstreams; manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Create clear technical documentation including test procedures, validation reports, debug logs, design recommendations, and executive-friendly summaries.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer with strong lab-based power validation and debugging experience.

Requisition Details

  • Proficiency with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, electronic loads, etc.).
  • Demonstrated strength in system-level electrical analysis and troubleshooting (power integrity, transient response, noise, efficiency, stability).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving issues to root cause and implementing durable fixes.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex electrical findings to cross-functional partners.
  • Experience in consumer electronics, wearables, or similar industries (highly integrated systems, tight power/thermal constraints).
  • Familiarity with automated test systems and scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or similar) to improve validation throughput and repeatability through automation.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and safety considerations relevant to hardware products (EMC, safety, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple concurrent validation/debug efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing or maintaining power validation methodologies for battery-powered wearable systems.
  • Experience creating automated power characterization (power profiling, regression tests, long-run stability testing).
  • Experience supporting NPI/manufacturing validation and bridging lab validation to production test strategies.

Skills

  • Creativity, critical thinking, and strong verbal/written communication.
  • Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to operate effectively across engineering disciplines.
  • Advanced ability to perform technical calculations, interpret schematics/blueprints, and establish validation standards/specifications.
  • Strong leadership/mentoring capability (as appropriate to level), with the ability to influence without authority.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related engineering field) required.

Key Projects/Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • The function of this role is to help support the power analysis validation for smart glasses cases. They should be able to talk with cross-functional people and come up with suggestions on how to improve the functions.
