Job Summary:

  • Contract Test Lab Technicians support our engineering and end customers by executing a wide range of component and system-level testing activities. These tests ensure product performance, validate design intent, and support both New Product Development and current products in service.
  • Individuals in this contract role bring strong electrical and mechanical skills and the ability to build custom test setups that replicate real-world operating conditions of our units. They work closely with engineers to ensure testing meets technical requirements and captures all required data.
  • The primary responsibility of this position is to provide hands-on technician support for variety of research and development testing projects. This includes designing and assembling test fixtures, installing sensors, wiring data acquisition systems, and applying creative problem-solving in a dynamic lab environment. Project demand may shift, and the technician will support evolving testing needs throughout the entire lab for the duration of the contract. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technician support for a wide variety of research and development testing projects
  • Perform pre- and post-test electrical checks on components
  • Install, configure, and verify proper operation of sensors and instrumentation
  • Wire sensors into data acquisition systems to accurately collect test data
  • Build custom test fixtures and mechanical setups that simulate our unit operation
  • Collaborate with requesting engineers to ensure test requirements and data needs are fully met
  • Apply creative problem-solving to design and execute unique test configurations
  • Deliver high-quality, timely, and accurate test results
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the lab
  • Support new testing initiatives as project priorities evolve 

Qualifications:

  • Strong electrical skills and experience with wiring, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • General mechanical aptitude and experience building or assembling mechanical test fixtures
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and test procedures
  • High school diploma required; technical training or certification preferred
  • Previous experience in a test lab environment or hands-on HVAC or refrigeration technical work is a strong plus
  • Perform all work with safety as the highest priority
  • Experience with a wide range of electrical test equipment, including but not limited to power supplies, load banks, digital volt-ohm meters (DVOMs), current sensors, oscilloscopes, micro-ohmmeter, HiPot testers, mega-ohmmeters and data acquisition hardware.
