Job Description

  • The role of a logistics clerk includes performing several clerical tasks of record keeping, coordination, communication and correspondence, as required for smooth transportation of goods from the vendor's place to the recipient's address.
  • Person working in this position will prepare, process and maintain documents required for trading goods such as application forms, sales or purchase orders, permissions, approvals, contracts, etc.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Keep tabs on all the specifics related to what is coming in or going out of a company.
  • Keep electronic and/or paper files accurate and up-to-date, they can track orders, answer billing questions, and discuss content.
  • Keeping an eye on stock and participating in inventory counts also may be expected.
  • Choose transportation methods based on factors such as size, cost, and when the items are needed
  • Notify material handlers of what will need to be pulled from inventory and the time at which pickup is scheduled
  • Examine orders arriving at their own company.
  • Inspect for damage, verify correctness, and input information into inventory records.
  • Keep clients posted on the status of their orders.
  • Handle replacements when incorrect goods arrive - If orders are damaged in transit, logistics clerks send out new items and file claims with the carrier.
  • As part of the logistics team, clerks communicate with departmental leaders about daily activities

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience performing clerical duties and data entry in a professional office setting.
  • Experience in a logistics office with exposure to all domestic and international paperwork
