Project Management Analyst (PMA)
Transmission & Distribution Program Management Office (T&D PMO) – Client
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid – 3 days/week in office)
Job Description:
A Junior Business Analyst typically assists in analyzing and documenting business processes and requirements for projects within an organization.
- Assisting in gathering and documenting business requirements from stakeholders.
- Analyzing and documenting current business processes and workflows.
- Assisting in the development of functional and technical specifications.
- Participating in meetings and workshops to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.
- Assisting in the identification and documentation of project risks and issues.
- Supporting the development and testing of new systems or enhancements.
- Assisting in the preparation of training materials and user documentation.
- Providing support to users during system implementation and post-implementation.
- A Junior Business Analyst should have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. They should be detail-oriented and able to work effectively in a team environment.
Position Overview
- The Project Management Analyst (PMA) provides critical daily support to multiple Project Managers within the Transmission & Distribution Program Management Office (T&D PMO) at Client. This role is essential to the successful execution of electric utility transmission and distribution programs and requires strong business-analysis capabilities, contract administration support, and high-quality organizational skills.
- The PMA works primarily from the Washington, DC office, supporting a diverse portfolio of capital and maintenance projects across Client ’s service territory.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Business Analysis
- Perform analytical and project support activities for multiple PMs across transmission and distribution programs.
- Organize, track, and validate program-level business data to support reporting and operational decision-making.
- Prepare structured documentation, summaries, and business insights for stakeholders.
- Contract & Financial Administration
- Support creation of Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for transmission and distribution program needs.
- Create contract requisitions, process contract payment authorizations, and manage vendor documentation.
- Conduct invoice review and approval, track accruals, and maintain contract performance oversight.
Tools & Systems
- Work with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI to maintain and analyze program information.
- Use advanced Excel functions (lookups, formulas, pivots) to support project and financial tracking.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Communicate with internal teams, contractors, and cross-functional partners to gather information and support project needs.
- Provide clear, concise, and timely communication regarding program updates, requirements, and issues.
Required Qualifications
- Strong business-analytic skills with the ability to interpret, organize, and synthesize large amounts of program information.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, etc.).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of tasks and documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and drive timely completion of tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in utility operations, transmission or distribution construction, or engineering environments.
- Prior experience supporting multiple project managers or working within a PMO structure.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI and SharePoint.
Work Environment
- This position requires reporting to the Washington, DC office three days per week. The PMA will interact regularly with Transmission and Distribution PMO leadership, project managers, contractors, and internal business partners.
