Description
Rangam is seeking candidates for a Direct Hire role as a Technical Associate, Animal Care with our client Pfizer, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. Seeking candidates in Cambridge, MA or willing to relocate.

What You Will Achieve
As part of the Comparative Medicine team, you will provide basic husbandry, handling, restraint and health surveillance of laboratory animals in compliance with federal and local regulatory requirements. You will also be responsible for maintaining inventory of animal supplies and provide basic technical assistance (i.e., restraint, injections, blood collections) in support of research studies.
It is your hard work along with innovative ideas and focus that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new milestones and help patients across the globe.
How You Will Achieve
In this role, you will:
- Perform routine animal husbandry duties as directed.
- Observe and report status of animal health, food and water consumption, appearance, and behavior.
- Provide support in basic veterinary medical treatment as prescribed by the veterinary staff.
- Support research by providing basic technical services (restraint, dose administration, blood collection) to research investigators.
- Required to work with all species housed at the site.
- Take responsibility for individual contributions to achieve team deliverables, working effectively as a team member and coordinating with others.
- Manage personal time and professional development, being accountable for results.
- Identify and solve moderately routine problems.
- Complete assignments with moderate supervision using established procedures, referring deviations from standard procedures to the supervisor.
- Ensure work is reviewed for accuracy, quality, and adherence to standards.
- Support the operations and maintenance of cage wash equipment.
May be required to work under one of the following: The United States Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Act and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Good Laboratory Practices, Public Health Service Policy and/or AAALAC accreditation standards.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience
- Solid understanding of basic mathematics
- Comprehend both written and verbal instructions effectively
- Basic computer knowledge, including the use of email, online forms, web-based training
- Flexibility to work a non-standard schedule
- Experience in a laboratory animal setting
Nice-to-Have ?
- Associate or bachelor's degree
- AALAS Certification
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical setting
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with animal care and welfare regulations
- Experience with cage wash equipment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Familiarity and basic understanding of common AI tools and a curiosity for learning how they can be used to enhance productivity
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work standing up lifting items above shoulder level for extended periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive physical activities such as pushing and pulling racks of caging, lifting bags of feed and bedding, reaching, stooping and bending.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Weekend and holiday work are required
This is an Essential Personnel role. Essential Personnel are defined as the staff that are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency, as determined by Pfizer, or when the business has suspended operations. There are some individuals who may be required to perform essential services remotely and those individuals will be identified in advance and notified by their supervisors, but in most cases Essential Personnel are required to be on-site during an emergency or suspension of operations.
Work Location Assignment: On Premise

The salary for this position ranges from $26.86 to $44.77 per hour. In addition, this position offers eligibility for overtime, weekend, holiday and other pay premiums depending on the work schedule and the Company’s policies.
