Summary:

  • The main function of an electrical engineer is to design, develop, test or supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military or scientific use.
  • A typical electrical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve plan layout, including creating new designs and modifications of existing designs.
  • Define electrical test methodologies for PCB and different subsystems by working with system integration EE team and technology teams.
  • Support detailed lab testing and debug efforts on various subsystems including sensors, power, audio, battery, low and high-speed interfaces etc. Conduct ESD testing on prototypes and support debug activities
  • Support new technology introduction.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of the overall system.
  • Develop scripts and tools for data collection and analysis
  • Own execution, interpretation, and reporting of electrical debug and test results.
  • Support system bring up, debug and factory processes
  • Clearly communicate test plans and results. Keep track of bugs encountered and fixed
  • Candidates will be evaluated based on their deliverables in hardware design, test and prototype builds, as well as documentation and communications with cross-functional teams. 

Skills:

  • Good EE fundamentals. In depth knowledge of various EE subsystems and system level issues
  • Experience executing electrical tests on the bench.Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM, e-load, power supply, power analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, and temp chamber.
  • Experience debugging ESD and EMC issues. ESD testing experience highly desired
  • High density Rigid/flex board integration experience. Rapid prototyping with what's available. Can-do attitude.
  • Ability to drive projects with high ambiguity, multiple paths, and fuzzy future to clarity.
  • Understanding of core tech areas, such as SoC, sensor, wireless, audio, display, interfaces (USB, MIPI, PCIE, SPI, I2C). Capable of designing, bringing up and evaluating projects from those areas.
  • Embedded software basics. Comfortable in looking into software log/code and familiarity with Python scripting
  • Use automation to help the team improve project quality, as well as scale to more projects.
  • A team player with strong communication skills. A self-motivated person who thrives in a cross-functional and fast-paced environment.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering required. 

Surrounding team & key projects            

  • This team handles many of the smart glasses programs,similar to Ray-Bans.
  • The work involves the electrical design of the products inside the device, including testing, supporting production, and updating designs for the next build.
  • The role leans towards someone who can work in the lab and debug issues, collecting data and focusing on testing rather than design.
