Location: Remote
 

Need Someone with developer skills

  • Critical skills we are looking for is someone with experience setting up GitHub actions for complex build/deployment pipelines on self-hosted Windows runners.
  • Should have experience with scripting technologies such as korn shell, powershell, and bash. Python is a perk.
  • Other tasks such as setting up the repo, teams, security and such are pretty standard.

 

Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced GitHub Actions Contractor to support our engineering organization in designing, building, optimizing, and documenting CI/CD workflows. This role will also play a key part in training and enabling existing team members, ensuring our developers, DevOps personnel, and support engineers can confidently maintain and extend the automation pipeline.
  • The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, excellent communication skills, and a passion for enabling others through knowledge-sharing.

 

Key Responsibilities

GitHub Actions Development & Implementation

  • Design, build, and optimize CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
  • Implement workflow automation for builds, tests, deployments, security scans, and environment provisioning.
  • Integrate GitHub Actions with systems running on Windows servers, AIX server, SMB network shares, Mainframe, etc.
  • Develop reusable workflow templates, composite actions, and shared automation modules that support the CI/CD strategy.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and implement scalable long term solutions.

 

System & Process Improvements

  • Evaluate current automation landscape and recommend improvements in reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Establish best practices for branching strategies, testing automation, secrets management, and workflow architecture.
  • Document workflows, technical decisions, and standard operating procedures.

 

Team Training & Enablement

  • Conduct hands-on training sessions, workshops, and walkthroughs for employees with varying levels of DevOps experience.
  • Create easy-to-understand guides, reference materials, and internal documentation.
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to ensure the team can maintain and extend workflows successfully.
  • Serve as the internal subject-matter expert for GitHub Actions during the contract period.

 

Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, QA, DevOps, and management teams to understand requirements and build scalable automation solutions.
  • Participate in planning sessions and provide technical recommendations aligned with organizational goals.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building automation using GitHub Actions.
  • Strong background in CI/CD design principles and DevOps best practices.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python), YAML and .NET C# code.
  • Experience integrating cloud services into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in technical training or mentoring contexts.
  • Ability to document complex workflows clearly and concisely. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise GitHub (GitHub Enterprise Cloud).
  • Background in software engineering or DevOps roles.
