Job Overview

Role: Director, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management (OSD)

Location: Onsite – Foster City, CA (3 days/week)


Key Responsibilities

The Director is responsible for leading the external manufacturing supplier portfolio, including:

  • Sourcing & Contracting: Leading strategic sourcing, negotiations, and contract management.

  • Supplier Management: Managing relationships (SRM) with multiple CDMOs and direct material suppliers for the Small Molecule OSD Clinical and Commercial portfolio.

  • Strategy & Intelligence: Developing supplier portfolio strategies, market/risk intelligence, and risk mitigation.

  • Value Optimization: Optimizing business value through excellent communication and strategic internal/ external partnerships.


Essential Functions

  • Strategy & Sourcing: Leads sourcing, competitive bidding (RFP/RFQ/RFI), and implements portfolio strategies using standardized tools.

  • SRM Governance: Executes governance models based on supplier segmentation; leads Joint Steering Committee (JSC) and Business Review Management (BRM) meetings.

  • Risk Management: Assesses external network risks and leads mitigation efforts for assigned modalities.

  • Contract Negotiation: Handles Confidentiality Agreements, Master Supply/Services Agreements, Amendments, PSAs, SOWs, and LOIs.

  • Collaboration: Represents the modality on governance committees and ensures alignment with PDM and stakeholder strategic objectives.

  • Market Awareness: Maintains deep knowledge of CDMO capabilities and material supplier offerings relevant to the pipeline.

  • Continuous Improvement: Leads and participates in Operational Excellence projects.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech/manufacturing; 5+ years specifically in Strategic Sourcing.

  • Domain Expertise: Prior experience leading outsourced manufacturing (CDMOs) and knowledge of GMPs (21CFR parts 11, 210, 211, 820).

  • Negotiation: Extensive experience managing complex agreements.

  • Communication: Ability to distill complex issues into concise presentations for senior management.

  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple cross-functional programs in a fast-paced environment.

  • Problem Solving: Skill in resolving conflict and solving complex problems through collaboration.

  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 20% (domestic and international).
