Description

Duration: 6 months

Location:  On site, St Paul MN

Internal title: PCB Layout Designer

3+ years' experience with PCB design using Altium or equivalent
Experience with Creo will preferred

Job Summary

  • As a member of the System Controls Engineering team at client, the Printed Circuit Board Designer will utilize Altium Designer to develop high quality, complex multi-layer PCB layouts for commercial HVAC equipment and building automation systems.
  • The PCB designer will implement high speed digital, analog, RF and high power circuits, utilized within embedded controllers, I/O modules, touch screen displays, intelligent devices and wireless sensors.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Electrical and Mechanical engineers to convert schematics to PCB layouts using Altium Designer
  • Create and maintain engineering Bills of Materials, drawings, specifications and Creo 3D component models
  • Maintenance of Component library
  • Participate in cost savings and productivity improvements
  • Participate in New Technology-Innovation activities
  • Participate in PCB assembly manufacturing reviews

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience with PCB design experience
  • 3+ years' experience with PCB design using Altium or equivalent
  • Experience managing printed circuit board design, interpreting datasheets and schematics to generate netlist(s) and proper constraints in the layout design
  • Experience with Windchill PLM desired, releasing Engineering designs and bill of materials
  • Knowledge of IPC, UL and other electronic standards desired
  • Experience with Altium Vault, Concord Pro or similar library management systems
  • Experience with component creation using Creo 3D Models desired
  • Experience creating schematic symbols and PCB footprints in libraries
  • Experience designing high speed differential circuits, memory interfaces, power circuits, impedance control, RF, heat dissipation, and optimization for EMI performance desired
  • Familiarity with PC based Windows programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).
  • Problem assessment and problem solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Work effectively in an open consensus oriented team environment.
  • Conflict management skills
  • Quality focused, Results-oriented individual with emphasis on achieving overall team performance.
  • Ability to work independently, possibly remote
