Application Architect III – Customer Billing Systems (CSS)
Location: Remote
Type: Contract
Domain: Utility Customer Billing Systems
Role Summary
- We are seeking a senior Application Architect III to provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for projects within the Customer Billing Systems (Customer Service System - Customer/1) platform.
- The role partners closely with project managers and leads internal and vendor technical resources to deliver complex application solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead application architecture and technical design efforts for CSS initiatives
- Provide hands-on technical guidance throughout the SDLC (design through implementation)
- Serve as the technical interface between development teams, vendors, and project management
- Identify application-level risks and support mitigation planning
- Ensure solution quality, performance, and alignment with enterprise standards
- Support system enhancements, integrations, and issue resolution in complex environments
Required Experience & Skills
- 8–10 years of experience with Customer Billing Systems, specifically CSS (Customer/1)
- 8+ years working in a formal SDLC environment
- Experience working in utility or regulated environments
- Strong application architecture and systems integration experience
- Proven experience leading technical teams (internal and vendor)
- Ability to manage and influence vendors and hold them accountable

- Foundation for Cooperative Processing (FCP)
- Client/server and internet-based architectures

- Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Comfortable acting as a technical liaison between IT and business stakeholders
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or similar (or equivalent professional experience)

- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
