Job Description
- IDC Contracts seeks a highly engaged and experienced professional for a contract management role to support the IDC Contracts team.
- The IDC Contracts Program & Portfolio Contract Manager partners with multiple teams across the IDC organization and beyond to gather and understand operational and financial information to maximize contract value and reduce risk to IDC and Client.
- The successful candidate will be experienced in contract management, including deal formation, contract structure, legal and pricing negotiations.
- In this role, you will have the opportunity to support IDC Contracts from a deal strategy and operational efficiency perspective.
- Success in the role requires a high degree of process orientation, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, original thinking to proactively identify new and different approaches to structuring deals, and ability to work across multiple functions as a trusted advisor.
Responsibilities
- Support the overall contract management function, including deal-to-contract intake, contract drafting, deal negotiation, maintaining contracts playbooks, and improving processes and systems.
- Partner with business leads to help navigate complex operations and spend initiatives with significant spend and risk; drive cross-functional contracts risk and cost containment efforts.
- Collaborate closely with business requesters and partners in Data Center Development; Design, Engineering & Construction; Facility Operations; Sourcing; In-house Legal Counsel; Finance; Business Risk & Insurance; and various Legal Compliance teams.
- Partner with business leads to help navigate complex operations and delivery initiatives with significant spend and risk; drive cross-functional contracts risk and cost containment efforts.
- Develop and continuously improve deal-to-contract strategies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and controls.
- Manage and mitigate data and user privacy risk to ensure deal compliance.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships to ensure healthy and constructive interactions representing complex contracting issues to business partners.
- Coordinate and drive resolution to key business issues with legal, risk management, corporate contracts and business leads.
- Provide guidance and internal support for their functional program on best ways to structure deals.
- Ensure that signed contracts are complete and clearly communicated to all relevant parties, including interpretation to support implementation.
- Examine existing policies and procedures to optimize the end-to-end process from creation of the quote to the completion of signatures with all parties concerned.
- Share best practices with and provide training to team, peers, and outside business units to enhance the quality and efficiency of contracting processes.
- Ensure all approved requests have been properly documented, escalated to the appropriate approval level, and resolved within the applicable Service Level Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant work experience in contract management related to professional services
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with degree or graduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Legal Studies (JD), Business Administration, English, Engineering, Construction Administration, or similar.
- Experience using contract management software or systems to prepare, process and record contract and purchase transactions.
- Experience interpreting and complying with corporate policies.
- Experience working in a highly cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Law (J.D. or LL.M.), Contract Management, Legal Studies, or a closely related field.
- Infrastructure portfolio management, construction industry experience, or familiarity with service categories related to Data Center project and program management, such as general consulting, engineering, research & development, quality, testing, inspection, building management systems, artwork, furniture, and facility operations & maintenance.
- Experience leveraging AI to improve efficiency in daily workflows, including contract redlining, contract comparisons, contract abstracts, etc.
- Experience with process development and continuous improvement in contracts playbooks, deal-to-contract intake/pipelines, and other related procedures and tools
Must-Have Skills
- Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in contracting for professional or construction-related services.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as English, Contract Management, Construction Management, Law (JD), or Engineering/Construction Administration.
- Tools: Experience using contract management software.
- Collaboration: A track record of working effectively across many different teams and interpreting company policies.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with data center projects, construction, and infrastructure management is preferred.
- Strong verbal & written communication — concise, focused, able to articulate complex contract concepts clearly without rambling
- Services contracts experience — direct experience with services-focused contracts (consulting, engineering, O&M, facility services), not solely construction change orders or equipment procurement
- Contract drafting & redlining technical depth — hands-on template-based drafting, redlining, and negotiating commercial/legal terms
- Contract lifecycle software proficiency — experience with structured intake systems and CLM tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, JIRA-based workflows) — not just email-based processes
- Master/child agreement structures — familiarity with MSA / child work order frameworks
- Legal collaboration as gatekeeper — experience serving as first-line contract reviewer before legal escalation, comfortable partnering with legal as final authority
Nice-to-have Skills
- Modernization: Experience using AI tools to improve daily tasks like reviewing or comparing contracts.
- Process Expertise: Experience developing new procedures and improving existing processes for contract management.
- Data centre experience
