Must-Have Skills

  • 5+ years of program/project management experience, including building and scaling complex programs
  • Demonstrated experience managing senior external stakeholders, e.g., executives, senior faculty, institutional or clinical leaders, or equivalent high-status partners
  • Track record of relationship-driven influence and partnership-building in an external, multi-institution context
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and design processes that scale
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentational communication; credible engaging domain leaders one-on-one

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience in academic relations, university partnerships, fellowship programs, or expert-community programs Familiarity with a regulated or specialized vertical (e.g., healthcare/clinical)
  • Experience working with AI/ML research teams or in an AI research organization
  • Track record of representing an organization externally at institutional events
  • Experience standing up a new program from pilot to scale

Summary:

  • The main function of a non-IT program manager is to plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as engineering, research and development, financial systems and product roll-out, etc or any other non-IT based project.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
  • Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to clients.
  • Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
  • Analyze technology, resource needs and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Confer with management, production and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
  • Direct, review and approve product designs and changes.
  • Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.

Skills:

  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of computer software, such as MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio etc.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
