Buyer / Procurement Specialist
Position Summary
- Responsible for procuring materials and services required to support manufacturing and operational needs.
- Partners with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure product availability, competitive pricing, quality standards, and on-time delivery.
- Develops sourcing strategies and manages supplier relationships to support business goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an annual spend portfolio of $10M–$15M across assigned commodities and suppliers.
- Support procurement activities for 3,000+ active part numbers and 50+ suppliers.
- Lead 5–10 strategic sourcing events annually, including RFQs, RFPs, and supplier negotiations.
- Deliver 2–5% annual cost savings through sourcing, negotiations, and supplier development initiatives.
- Maintain supplier on-time delivery performance exceeding 95%.
- Process and execute 750–1,000 purchase orders per month while ensuring compliance with company purchasing policies.
- Review and analyze purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and implement sourcing and cost-reduction strategies.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and bid packages.
- Analyze supplier bids, quotations, and proposals.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and contractual agreements with suppliers.
- Select and award business to qualified suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and performance criteria.
- Monitor and manage change orders throughout the procurement process.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve supply-related issues as needed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
- Purchases materials, equipment, supplies, and services of a specialized or complex nature in compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.
- Designs and implements cost effective strategies related to purchasing in an organization. Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions, evaluates methods for and recommends improvements in processing of purchase requisitions, and monitors change orders.
- Investigates and develops sources of supplies; issues bid requests, prepares bid specifications, formal bid invitations, or requests for proposals; receives and analyzes bids, quotes, and proposals; selects and awards vendors to procure requisitioned commodities; and administers contracts. 3-5 years experience
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of procurement experience; manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of sourcing strategies, contract administration, and supplier management.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
