GENERAL PURPOSE:
- This is a position in a recycling facility responsible for the operation of the truck scale(s) for both inbound and outbound loads.
- This position requires accurate entries into the computer verifying weights, deductions and suppliers.
- The routing of Client drivers or third-party drivers based off specific requirements set forth each day is also required.
- The upmost importance related to customer service is also placed on this position due to the constant contact this position has with supplier contacts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operates scale to weigh in and weigh out both inbound and outbound loads for both commercial and private vehicles.
- Provides necessary paperwork for all inbound and outbound loads.
- Makes entries on daily logs for inbound and outbound trailer loads and ensures accuracy.
- Answering calls that come into the plant and provide front line customer service.
- Plan and route pickups for suppliers in coordination with Client or third-party drivers.
- Provides information, responds to inquiries, co-workers, and other departments, in person, on the phone or by two-way radio.
- Maintains various files on a daily basis.
- Generates various reports when requested by both co-workers and suppliers.
- Receive unload and load tickets and input into the system. This includes the different commodities and any deductions as well as the accuracy of these items being entered into the system.
- Responsible for ensuring outbound loads meet federal compliance in regard to weights and paperwork.
- Responsible for ensuring the scale in working properly and calibrated regularly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have high school diploma or General Education degree (G.E.D.).
- Must have ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos.
- Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, bill of lading’s, unloading reports, etc.
- Must have ability to perform basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, etc.)
- Must have the ability to multi-task with various interruptions.
- Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outloook, etc.)
- Must be able to operate basic office equipment (fax machine, copy machine, etc.).
- Must be able to maintain good attendance.
- Must have ability to answer the telephone and provide information/assistance to customers.
- Must have knowledge of current office procedures and methods including, but not limited to, telephone communication, office systems and record keeping.
- Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
