Must Haves (Non Negotiable)

  • 5+ years of digital product design experience; portfolio or case studies required
  • Comfortable operating in highly complex environments, bringing structure, clarity, and precision to data-heavy, compliance-driven experiences.
  • Agile collaboration with engineering from discovery through delivery
  • Strong UX, interaction, and visual design skills
  • Proficiency with Figma and modern prototyping tools
  • Research- and data-driven decision-making
  • Strong stakeholder communication and facilitation skills
  • Accessibility knowledge (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
  • Experience designing AI-powered and automated features, with awareness of Responsible AI principles and privacy-by-design best practices.

About the Role

  • We're launched homegrown financial health and wellness education platform, and we're looking for a digital Product Designer to help take it from MVP launch to a mature tool. As an individual contributor, you'll create dev-ready screens, work closely with our development team, and keep shipping enhancements.
  • Reporting to the Director of Product Design, you'll focus on detailed design to production handoff. This includes taking features from through detailed, high-fidelity, dev-ready screens, then staying with them through build and QA so what ships matches what was designed.
  • You’ll support a continuous roadmap of new features and enhancements across web and mobile, helping people understand and improve their financial health.

What You’ll Do

Detailed design and handoffs

  • Take features to built screens: flows, high-fidelity UI, states, edge cases, responsive breakpoints, and annotated specs that are ready for development.
  • Package designs so engineers can build without guessing: component usage, interaction notes, content, and accessibility annotations.
  • Build and extend the platform’s design system. Use and extend shared components and patterns so screens are consistent, scalable, and fast to build.
  • Own visual and design QA. Review implementations, log defects, and partner with engineers to resolve them before release so we ship what we intended.

Support the roadmap after MVP launch

  • Support a continuous roadmap of new features and enhancements across concurrent sprints.
  • Design new modules and tools that build on the MVP foundation (e.g., new learning content and formats, calculators and assessments, progress and goal tracking).
  • Work from analytics, user feedback, and research to prioritize fixes and enhancements; translate findings into designs that move the numbers.
  • Keep specs, documentation, and pattern libraries current as the product grows so the team can move faster with each release.

Drive design delivery in an agile context

  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and Content to shape sprint plans (refinement, sprint planning, and retros) and keep design ahead of development.
  • Manage your workload across concurrent sprints, balancing near-term production work with design for upcoming enhancements.
  • Respond quickly to questions during build, unblock engineers, and make pragmatic tradeoffs without compromising quality.

Ship for outcomes, not output

  • Track experience outcomes after launch (e.g., task completion, engagement, content completion, return visits, and user satisfaction) and use them to shape enhancements.
  • Advocate for the customer in cross-functional discussions, using evidence to align stakeholders on the right problems to solve.
  • Contribute to a culture of design quality by sharing work in critiques, documenting patterns, and helping raise the bar for the broader team. You should have
  • Portfolio required: Please include a portfolio or case studies as a document or link with your resume when applying (including any passwords). Please do not use Dropbox or other file-sharing tools we cannot access.

Experience

  • 5+ years of digital product design experience, with a track record of shipping high-quality, production-ready work.
  • Strong detailed design skills: high-fidelity UI, design systems, responsive and multi-breakpoint design, and detailed developer handoff.
  • Experience supporting a product after launch, iterating on live features through a continuous roadmap of enhancements.
  • Experience working closely with engineers in an agile sprint environment; comfortable moving from concept to delivery and staying through QA.
  • Experience presenting work to senior stakeholders and clearly articulating and defending design decisions.

Skills

  • Strong command of interaction design, visual design, and UX writing collaboration.
  • Expert in Figma: components, variables, auto layout, prototyping, and Dev Mode handoff. Comfortable with collaborative whiteboarding tools (e.g., FigJam, Miro).
  • Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Comfortable using qualitative + quantitative inputs to prioritize and iterate on live features.
  • Strong communication skills; able to align cross-functional collaborators and give engineers clear, actionable direction.
  • Meticulous attention to detail across states, edge cases, and content, with a pragmatic sense of what to ship now versus later.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Design, Interaction Design, Fine Arts, HCI) or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience in financial services, financial wellness or education, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience designing educational, or behavior-change products (learning, coaching, or guidance experiences).
  • Experience with experimentation (A/B testing), personalization, and optimization of key journeys (adoption, task completion, and engagement).
  • Experience designing AI-powered features (e.g., personalized recommendations or assistive guidance) with attention to Responsible AI and privacy-by-design practices.

Deal Breakers

  • No portfolio or case studies
  • Less than 5 years of digital product design experience
  • No complex workflow-driven or self-service experience
  • No agile collaboration with engineering
  • No Figma or prototyping proficiency
  • No accessibility/WCAG exposure
