Business Analyst I

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, onsite every Wednesday

Position Overview

• We are seeking a Business Analyst I to support a retail operations team focused on billing, customer enrollment, government aggregation, desk operations, and historical usage analysis.
• This role is highly data-focused and will involve working with large volumes of operational data, including recurring EDI files received daily, to support accurate billing and enrollment activities.
• The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis, Excel, SQL, and Power BI skills, along with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and turn data findings into practical business solutions.
• You will work closely with Sales, Customer Care, Retail Operations, Billing, and Enrollment teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day billing and customer enrollment operations.
• Analyze historical usage, billing, and operational data.
• Work with large volumes of EDI data and daily operational files.
• Identify data discrepancies, trends, and operational issues.
• Investigate issues, determine root causes, and recommend solutions.
• Create and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Write and use SQL queries for data analysis and reporting.
• Perform advanced Excel analysis, including VLOOKUPs and other data manipulation techniques.
• Partner with Sales and Customer Care teams to understand business needs and resolve operational issues.
• Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Support continuous improvement of retail operations and data processes.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience in data analysis and problem solving.
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and working with large datasets.
• Working experience with SQL queries for data analysis.
• Experience creating or maintaining reports/dashboards in Power BI.
• Ability to analyze complex datasets and identify trends, discrepancies, and root causes.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to translate data into practical business recommendations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with billing and customer service operations.
• Experience with customer enrollment processes.
• Familiarity with EDI transactions or EDI data.
• Experience in the power, energy, utilities, or retail energy industry.
• Experience with Government Aggregation is a plus.
• Experience supporting Sales, Customer Care, Billing, or Retail Operations teams.
• Candidates from other industries may also be considered if they have strong data analysis, Excel, SQL, Power BI, and problem-solving experience.

Education

• Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
• Relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
