Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Supervisor, Supply Chain leads day-to-day supply chain operations at an assigned laboratory or healthcare site. This position directly supervises frontline supply chain team members, manages site-level inventory and replenishment performance, ensures operational and service standards are consistently met, and serves as the primary supply chain contact for laboratory and hospital partners at the assigned location.

Duties and Responsibilities

People Leadership and Team Development

• Lead, coach, and develop frontline team members through regular feedback, performance discussions, and structured development conversations.

• Identify and develop internal talent for advancement and establish individual development plans aligned with business and career objectives.

• Support career development for team members across levels, from entry-level positions through Lead Supply Replenisher.

• Onboard new team members and ensure they are trained and prepared to perform their responsibilities to established standards.

• Manage daily scheduling, attendance, workload assignments, and site coverage to ensure uninterrupted operations.

• Conduct regular performance conversations and annual performance reviews for direct reports.

• Recommend salary actions, promotions, and other personnel actions in partnership with the Supply Chain Manager and Human Resources.

• Develop Lead Supply Replenishers as potential internal candidates for future supervisory opportunities.

Supply Chain and Inventory Operations

• Own end-to-end inventory replenishment and receiving operations at the assigned site.

• Ensure supplies and materials are available in accordance with operational requirements and established service standards.

• Review and approve daily requisitions and resolve inventory system exceptions in a timely manner.

• Enforce standard work processes across replenishment, receiving, auditing, and inventory management activities.

• Monitor inventory levels, identify potential shortages or service risks, and take appropriate corrective action.

• Maintain accurate inventory practices and ensure site-level inventory activities comply with established processes and controls.

Stakeholder and Site Operations

• Serve as the primary supply chain contact at the assigned site for materials, inventory, replenishment, and related operational matters.

• Partner with laboratory and hospital operations contacts to understand supply requirements, coordinate service needs, and resolve operational exceptions.

• Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and site partners to support reliable and efficient supply chain operations.

• Escalate service risks, supply disruptions, inventory issues, and other operational concerns with urgency, clarity, and defined ownership.

Performance Management and Continuous Improvement

• Own site-level supply chain performance metrics and monitor operational results on a daily basis.

• Analyze performance trends and use operational data to identify gaps, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions.

• Lead daily operational huddles and participate in weekly management reviews to communicate priorities, performance, risks, and required actions.

• Co-facilitate site-level process improvement initiatives and ensure improvements are sustained following implementation.

• Apply lean operations principles, including standard work and visual management, to improve operational consistency and efficiency.

• Maintain visual management standards and ensure the assigned site meets established safety, quality, and operational requirements.

• Prepare, review, and communicate operational performance information and reports as required by management.

Operational Accountability

• Make sound day-to-day operational decisions within established guidelines and escalate matters requiring additional support or approval.

• Ensure adequate staffing and site coverage to maintain required service levels.

• Maintain accountability for team performance, inventory accuracy, operational execution, safety, quality, and customer service.

• Perform other related duties and special assignments as required to support supply chain and site objectives.

Qualifications

Required Work Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in supply chain, materials management, warehouse operations, healthcare supply, or a related operational environment.

• Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, coaching, or developing a frontline team.

Preferred Work Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in supply chain or related operations.

• Experience working with lean operations, standard work, or visual replenishment systems.

• Previous experience in a healthcare, laboratory, hospital, or similarly regulated environment is strongly preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Routinely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Stand and walk for extended periods and perform physical material handling activities throughout the work shift.

• Maintain a valid driver's license that meets company requirements.

• Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

• Ability to adapt to changing operational conditions, priorities, and service requirements.

• Ability to balance hands-on operational responsibilities with people leadership and administrative responsibilities.

Technical / Job-Specific Knowledge

• Knowledge of inventory replenishment processes and supply chain operations.

• Working knowledge of supply chain analytics, performance monitoring tools, and operational reporting.

• Knowledge of lean operations principles, including standard work and visual management.

People Leader Responsibility

Reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

Directly supervises Supply Replenishers and Lead Supply Replenishers at the assigned site. The position is responsible for assigning daily work, managing attendance and site coverage, monitoring performance, conducting regular performance conversations and annual reviews, providing coaching and development, and recommending salary actions and promotions in partnership with the Supply Chain Manager and Human Resources.

The Supervisor, Supply Chain is also responsible for developing Lead Supply Replenishers as potential internal candidates for future supervisory advancement.

Work Environment

• On-site daily presence is required at the assigned location.

• Work is performed in a laboratory and/or healthcare environment.

• Physical material handling is an essential component of the position.

• Work may involve varying levels of activity, movement, and operational demands throughout the shift.

Education

Required Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Equivalent experience: Three or more years of supply chain operations experience with demonstrated frontline leadership experience may substitute for the formal education requirement.

Preferred Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
