Must Have
- AI Observability
- AWS CDK
- Cloud DevOps
- Datadog
- SRE Observability
- Terraform
As part of our Global Operations Team, this position is responsible for designing, building, and operating modern platform engineering capabilities that enable software teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable products through self-service infrastructure, reusable automation, and standardized engineering patterns. This role is ideal for a software engineer who can bridge cloud operations, DevOps, SRE, and platform product thinking—reducing developer friction, improving operational excellence, and helping teams ship software faster while maintaining strong governance, security, observability, and cost discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead modernization initiatives using a Current State/Desired State mindset, translating operational pain points into measurable platform engineering outcomes.
- Design, build, and operate internal developer platform capabilities that abstract infrastructure complexity and enable product engineering teams to self-serve common workflows.
- Create and maintain “golden path” templates, standards, and automation for application onboarding, infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD, observability, security controls, and production readiness.
- Develop platform tools, APIs, CLIs, reusable Terraform modules, pipelines, and documentation that improve developer experience and reduce manual handoffs.
- Partner with software engineering, security, architecture, SRE, and operations teams to embed guardrails for reliability, compliance, data protection, and cloud cost management into platform workflows.
- Maintain continuous integration, continuous delivery, and GitOps-oriented deployment practices that support rapid, low-risk, repeatable releases across production and non-production environments.
- Establish monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, SLOs, runbooks, and incident response practices that improve platform reliability and operational readiness.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and support production and non-production environments with a focus on automation, prevention, and continuous improvement.
Professional Skills & Key Competencies
- Strong experience in DevOps, cloud operations, SRE, platform engineering, or equivalent software engineering roles.
- Ability to treat the platform as an internal product, including roadmap planning, stakeholder engagement, feedback loops, adoption metrics, and developer experience improvements.
- Ability to develop internal tools, service templates, scripts, reusable modules, and platform documentation that accelerate product engineering delivery.
- Strong production ownership & reliability mindset — has run systems in production, led incident response, written RCAs, and designed SLOs/error budgets, not just built pipelines.
- Infrastructure as Code & automation-first — deep experience with Terraform/CDK/CloudFormation, GitOps, and CI/CD; minimizes manual changes and enforces policy through code.
- Cloud-native depth (AWS preferred) — hands-on with multi-account setups, networking, IAM, observability, DR/HA patterns, and cost controls at scale.
- Observability & operational excellence — proficient with metrics, logs, traces (e.g., Datadog/Prometheus), proactive alerting, and reducing noise while improving signal.
- Security & compliance-aware operator — understands production governance, least privilege, auditability, and working within SOC2/HITRUST/FedRAMP-like constraints.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud operations, platform engineering, SRE, infrastructure engineering, or an equivalent software-engineering role.
- Practical experience operating cloud-native environments in AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms.
Desired/Additional Skills & Knowledge
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or equivalent frameworks.
- Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Argo CD, Flux, Octopus, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with container platforms and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, or equivalent services.
- Experience with developer portals, service catalogs, platform templates, or internal developer platform tools such as Backstage or similar solutions.
- Knowledge of observability platforms for metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerting, and service-level objectives.
- Understanding of FinOps practices, cloud cost governance, tagging standards, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
- Experience developing, integrating, or governing AI agents to automate CloudOps and platform engineering tasks such as incident triage, root-cause analysis, runbook execution, deployment assistance, ticket enrichment, knowledge retrieval, and operational workflow orchestration with appropriate human oversight and auditability.
