Description
Rangam is seeking candidates for a Direct Hire role as a Associate scientist, Vaccines, Research & Development with our client Pfizer, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. Seeking candidates in Pearl River, NY or willing to relocate.
Role Summary
This is a highly hands-on laboratory role, with a significant portion of time dedicated to analytical testing, sample preparation, operation of analytical instrumentation, data analysis, and scientific documentation.- The successful candidate will work closely with experienced scientists while developing technical expertise in analytical methods used to support vaccine development programs.
Role Responsibilities
- Perform assigned analytical testing under supervision to support vaccine process development, formulation development, characterization, stability, and release-support activities.
- Prepare samples and operate analytical instruments following established procedures and approved methods.
- Support method development, verification, qualification, and troubleshooting experiments under guidance.
- Process and review experimental data, summarize results, and report observations to the supervisor or project team.
- Document laboratory work contemporaneously in electronic laboratory notebooks and maintain accurate, complete, and traceable records.
- Assist with preparation of analytical methods, protocols, reports, and method qualification documentation as directed.
- Participate in training, method transfer, and knowledge-sharing activities to build technical capability.
- Complete assigned tasks in alignment with supervisor direction, project timelines, and laboratory priorities.
- Support laboratory readiness through routine instrument checks, reagent and consumable management, housekeeping, and waste handling.
- Follow applicable safety requirements, data-integrity expectations, Good Documentation Practices, and other internal procedures.
- On a day-to-day basis, perform hands-on laboratory activities including sample preparation, execution of analytical assays, operation of analytical instruments, review and interpretation of data, troubleshooting of routine assay or instrument issues, and completion of laboratory documentation in accordance with internal procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- BA or BS in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline, with 0 + 2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Undergraduate laboratory research experience may be sufficient if the candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude, strong attention to detail, effective documentation practices, and the ability to learn new analytical methods quickly.
- Basic understanding of scientific principles, laboratory procedures, data analysis, documentation, and communication.
- Ability to execute assigned experiments under supervision with attention to details.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC/UPLC and UV/Vis spectroscopy obtained through academic research, internships, co-op programs, or industry experience
Preferred:

- Prior internship, co-op, or industry experience in an analytical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or biopharmaceutical laboratory.
- Hands-on experience with HPLC/UPLC and UV/Vis analytical techniques.
- Experience with Capillary Electrophoresis (CE), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), or related analytical platforms.
- Familiarity with vaccine-related materials, analytical method qualification, data integrity practices, and laboratory troubleshooting activities.
- Experience using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN), chromatography data systems, LIMS/sample tracking systems, Microsoft Excel for data analysis, and other scientific software tools
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment, including use of required PPE.
- Ability to sit, stand, pipette, prepare samples, handle lab materials, and operate analytical instruments.
- Ability to perform basic scientific calculations, organize data, and manage assigned tasks under supervision.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Onsite laboratory-based role at the Pearl River, NY site.
- Generally business hours, with occasional schedule flexibility for project needs.
- Minimal travel expected; work must follow site and laboratory safety requirements.
Work Location Assignment: On Premise
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $60,200.00 to $100,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
