      Description

      BioMedicine Design (BMD) High-Throughput Protein Production (HTP) Group is seeking a highly motivated scientist to support the molecular biology & protein production workflows:

      • DNA construct design/assembly, PCR, sample preparation for sequencing, DNA production & quantitation, mammalian cell culture & transfections, protein purification & quantitation, and automated liquid handling.
      • The candidate will play a major role in a core group that consistently delivers hundreds of protein samples per week to research teams across the department.
      • The candidate will be responsible for generating DNA constructs and performing high-throughput processes for macromolecule production (DNA, RNA, and protein).
      • The candidate will also be responsible for updating the laboratory database and relaying data in organized presentations to project teams.

      ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

      • DNA plasmid design & cloning
      • Automated high throughput DNA purification
      • High throughput molecular biology operations, including PCR, ligation reactions (Gibson & ITA), & DNA purification using liquid handling automation
      • Sample preparation for sequencing
      • DNA & RNA quantitation & QC
      • Supporting transient mammalian transfections with DNA
      • Organization and storage of DNA fragments/plasmids, including tracking using Genedata Biologics Software, as well as record keeping using electronic laboratory notebooks
      • Close interaction with project teams
      • Regular review of literature to maintain knowledge of scientific trends and industry processes, advance molecular biology and protein production methods

      Hard Skills:

      • PCR or molecular biology
      • Open to Learn

      Minimum education experience required:         

      • Bachelor’s degree (0-2 years’ experience) or Associate’s degree (1-3 years’ experience) with experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Biological Engineering or a related discipline along with a basic understanding of molecular biology and protein expression.
      • Not looking for Master or above
